OUR MISSION...“is to encourage and promote the sport of girls’ lacrosse for the benefit of emotional maturity and athletic development.” ~ US Lacrosse Grant Application, July 2003
This is an 8-week instructional program that will begin on Saturday, March 28 and end on May 23. Please note there will not be a Chicklettes session Easter weekend. All one-hour Saturday sessions will be at the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Leonardtown campus. Please park in the lot off of Hollywood-Leonardtown Road. Chicklettes sessions will begin at 9 a.m. Chicklettes participants will not be part of the Lax-a-Daisy Draw tournament, but are encouraged to come and share the end- of-season festivities held at the Lax-a-Daisy Draw on Sunday, May 31 at Chaptico Park.
SMGLL will provide sticks and goggles for all the Chicklettes. If you have your own, you may bring them. You will need to provide a mouth guard. The mouth guard needs to fit completely in your child’s mouth with no exposed protruding tabs. Please purchase a mouth guard ahead of time and work with your daughter to get used to the fit. This is one of the challenges with this age group ~ getting them used to the mouth guard. They cannot play without it. It is a great idea to have 2 mouth guards as one always seems to get misplaced. Cleats are recommended, but not necessary.
Each week, an instructor will introduce a concept and institute skill sets in “game disguise” in order to teach a fundamental skill.
SMGLL is excited to work with this age group and look forward to meeting all Chicklettes and their parents in person on Saturday, March 28. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to email us at www.smglaxl@yahoo.com.
