SMGLL Policies and Special Programs

Refunds:

SMGLL typically does not give refunds, however, they will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Extenuating circumstances such as major injury or illness prior to the start of a clinic or season will be considered for a refund.

Team Placement Policies (only applicable to Spring Rec Season):

  • SMGLL does not guarantee any requests will be fulfilled but will allow families to make one request.
  • Please note that when creating teams, SMGLL prioritizes an even distribution of talent and experience in order to achieve our mission "to encourage and promote the sport of girls' lacrosse for the benefit of emotional maturity and athletic development."
  • Requests that will be considered are placement with a close friend/family, carpool/transportation, or any other exceptional circumstance. SMGLL does not typically prioritize requests for a specific coach as our league coaching needs continually change and we value the capabilities of all of our coaches.
  • 2nd year Chicklettes, upon coach and Board approval may play U8 but will remain in U8 until they are the appropriate age to move up to U10.

Late Policy (only applicable to Spring Rec Season):

  • Spring Registration closes on February 1st.
  • Late registrations will only be accepted between February 1 - 15 on a case by case basis and for an additional $20 late fee.
  • After February 15, any additional registration requests will be waitlisted.  Should there be space/availability on any teams, requests will be considered.  If established teams are full, a waitlisted participant is only considered if there is a cancellation.
  • No requests will be considered after Feburary28.

Scholarship Program (only applicable to Spring Rec Season):

Scope and Purpose

  • To provide scholarships to families in need in order to promote the sport of lacrosse, enabling more children to play.

  • One full scholarship per age level will be budgeted and distributed based on need. Scholarships might be partial should more than one family qualify per age level.

  • Scholarships will be offered for spring registration only.

  • US Lacrosse Membership requirement will be on a case by case basis.

  • Donated equipment may be available depending on need and availability.

  • Getting to and from practices and games falls on the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

  • The request must include information establishing need. (Including but not limited to financial hardships i.e. lack of employment etc.)

  • Scholarships do not include additional team wear such as socks or Lax-A-Daisy T-Shirt.

  • The request may also include equipment request but equipment is not guaranteed even if scholarship is granted.

Granted Scholarship
Once a scholarship has been granted, awardees are required to support the league in additional ways. Since SMGLL is a non-profit/volunteer operation, awardees can show their appreciation by giving time to league activities. Suggestions for such activities include:

  • Distributing team uniforms to a designated team

  • Working the score table at games

  • Taking pictures during games

  • Sideline Manager

  • Volunteering for Lax-A-Daisy

  • Coach support like LAD T shirt organization or other team parent activities
